Tunnel Tents

Tunnel Tents A tunnel tent can be described as a tent constructed of two or more hoop alongwith its length, giving the appearance of a tunnel made of fabric. These tents possess a narrow and linear design and are also sometimes referred to as a multiple-hoop tent. They use fewer poles, less fabric and are available in a tunnel and wedge-like shape. Tunnel tents surpass when they are compared to freestanding tents on a size to weight ratio basis, this is due to the fact that in a tunnel tent the pegs take the place of poles compared with a freestanding system.

Another benefit of tunnel tents is that they perform very excellently in severe winds. In high windy situation, if pitched rightly in relation to the wind direction the shape of a tunnel tent can confront extreme winds. They are long, low and narrow, or have strange pointy shapes at the head end.

When compared with dome tents, they render more functional internal space for the same ground area, but nearly every time require stakes and guy lines to stay vertical. Tunnel tents employ the similar sort of flexible poles as used by dome tents. Ordinarily, these tents use three poles, arranged as three parallel hoops, with tent fabric attached to form a tunnel. The most common design available in this category has a sleeping area at one end and a porch/storage area at the other.

Tunnel Tents enjoy a wide reputation as the most robust design in high wind and bad weather.

Various features of a quality tunnel tents are:
